Talk To Us

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

We try to keep up with as many ministries as we can.  We try to learn from a slew of creative people and organizations alike. BUT, we have no doubt that there are a ton of you that we don’t know about.  Like the worship leader out there who’s breaking new ground in worship music/experiences at his church.  Or the creative pastor who’s stirring up some of the freshest ideas around. Or the video team that’s setting new standards.  Or the pastor who’s preaching is constantly refreshing your spirit.

So who should we know about?  What are some ministries we may have not heard of yet?  Where are you seeing God at work in the unsuspecting places?

We’d love to hear from you and learn.  Tell us about yourselves or anybody else we should know about. It’s share time!

Unity – We’re In This Together

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Coming out of our Unstoppable series, I was reminded over and over again about the importance of uniting with other ministries, churches, and people. That has been the theme over this past month for our church as we’ve brought in pastor’s from local churches across Charlotte. And to be honest, asking other local pastors to come in and preach to our house was kind of like putting our money where our mouth is when it comes to what we stand and believe about unity in God’s Church. And we couldn’t be more excited about the impact that it’s had on Elevation.

It’s actually been really challenging for me as a worship leader. Since we’ve been a part of Elevation, we’ve always tried to connect with other musicians and worship pastors around the city – we’ve always wanted to build those relationships from the start. But it is so easy to get busy doing our week to week items, and when time is not our friend, relationships can fall to the side.

This past month has been extremely convicting – seeing firsthand the importance of working together, investing in one another. We want to see a radical change in the city of Charlotte. The entire city! We want to see things happen here that have never happened before – and we cannot do it alone. We need each other. We need to empower each other, bless each other, pray for each other.

What are ways in your city or your ministry, that you can invest in someone else? What are the ways you can empower another ministry in your area, without receiving anything in return – other than the impact that’s felt by jointly investing in a city that needs Jesus?

Seriously. Think about practical ways you can honor another ministry in your surrounding area this week. Find a way to bless another worship leader at the church just down the road from your own.

I was so proud to be a part of our church during this series, and I hope this is just the beginning of uniting with one another for the city of Charlotte.

Brittany’s Story

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

As you know, this past week was Father’s Day, and we honored and celebrated our dads at Elevation. But there’s a unique story here at our church about a dad that was told this past weekend. The Booher family has recently been through a heartbreaking and difficult time, and Brittany was courageous enough to share her story….

New Album – Song Preview

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

We’re wrapping things up for the new record. David Zaffiro finished mixing a few weeks ago, and it’s in the process of being mastered. It is so good to see the finish line! We are so excited to get this album out to you guys, and have some really great initiatives planned for the release in September.

Right now, Chris and I are out with the best video team ever – shooting some content for the release.

Here’s a short clip of a song called “The Church” we’ve introduced to Elevation this past series. It’s been so great to see our people connect and worship to the songs written for His Church. Can’t wait for you to hear more.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

One Prayer – KC Clark

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

Wrapping up this week’s posts with my man, KC who leads worship at Team Church . KC and his wife, Julie, have both led worship for years, along with traveling as singer/songwriters. They’ve spent the last few years creating a solid culture of worship at Team Church. And bonus: they’re great songwriters. Matter of fact, they’re in the studio right now with our friends at Bright City working on their next project.

KC was one of the first of worship leaders that reached out to us when we first moved up here to join Elevation. And the thing I probably appreciate most about him is his heart to stay connected with other worship leaders and what’s happening everywhere in the local church. Worship leaders, take a lesson from KC and partner up with other worship leaders in your city. Lay down any ‘territorialism’ you may have and support one another. We’re called to. Don’t miss the chance to.

You should follow KC on twitter here.

And read his blog here.

One Prayer – Nate Davis

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

We would like to introduce you all to another fellow worship leader in this city… Nate Davis. He is the Creative Arts Pastor at Mosaic Church here in Charlotte. Along with being a talented and passionate worship leader and songwriter, Nate is married to a beautiful lady named Carrie, and father to two great kids… soon to be three!

For me in particular, Nate and I went to the same high school, so I have known him since I was a wee little girl of 13 years old. He was like an older brother to me, and I’ve gotten to watch him grow into an amazing man of God. I’m so proud him!

Stop by Nate’s blog or follow him on Twitter to check out what’s happening in his life and his ministry. He has such a great passion and heart for worship, and we are so blessed to share the city with leaders like him!

Nate, we love you… we are standing with you!

One Prayer – Andy Cherry

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

We just started a series called One Prayer.  It’s an incredibly unifying initiative started by Life Church’s Craig Groeschel a few years ago calling the Church to stand together and support itself globally.  Check it out here.  Since we’re kicking off One Prayer this week, we thought it’d be cool to highlight some of our favorite worship leaders and friends here in the city of Charlotte that are extremely talented and passionate about leading God’s people in worship.

If you haven’t heard of Andy Cherry, you will. No, I’m not talking about THIS guy.  I’m talking about THIS one. Although there are some similarities. Andy’s got his first record releasing in the coming months, and the dude can write some songs!! If you’ve got last year’s Catalyst Album, his song, Revival’s Fire, on there is rad.  Andy leads at Forest Hill’s Ballantyne Campus, as well as their youth group on Sunday nights.  And he’s leading worship at Charlotte One (a ministry for young adults here in Charlotte) every Tuesday during the school year.  He’ll actually be at Charlotte One tonight for a special summer gathering.

We’ve loved getting to know Andy over this past year, and there is one thing that truly stands out about him….he prays like a juggernaut.  I regularly get texts from him encouraging me, and letting me know he’s praying for me and our church.  He’s got a huge heart for seeing God’s Church unified. It’s so powerful to have someone like this in our lives who’s in full support of what’s happening here, while leading the people God’s called him to.  Great guitar player.  Rad, unique vocalist.  Awesome songwriter.  See for yourself.
